Captain in eberge "Edinburgh Castle" writes: This is
to certify that Mr. W.C.Hake has served as Lieutenant
R.N.R. on board H.M.S. Edinburgh Castle under my command,
from the 15th day of September 1914 to the 27th May 1915 during
which period he has conducted himself with zeal and great
ability. A most accurate and reliable Navigating Officer in
whom I have every trust."
The Captain in charge of H..S. Tyne, writes - "This is
to certify, that Mr. W.C.Hake has served as Lieutenant R.N.R.
on board H.M.S. Tyne under my command from the 14th day of
May 1918 to the 17th day of June 1918, during which period
he has conducted himself to my entire satisfaction. A zealous
and trustworthy officer of sound judgment."
Messrs. Elders and Fyffes Ltd. write: "We hereby
certify that you joinēd our service in April 1908 as 3rd
Officer, being subsequently promoted to 2nd Officer, and
becoming Chief Officer in September 1911. You served in the
latter capacity on various ships of our fleet until April 1914
when you were ap cinted to one of them as Master, which position
you held until the present date, when, in consequence of the
European War, we had to relieve you of command, as we have
to put several of our vessels out of comission.
"We have very great pleasure in testifying to your ability, as Officer and a seaman, and to your exemplary conduct
at all times."
